Magic Motorsport has added a new accessory to its FLEX ecosystem: Korhex, a hardware tool for direct access to the microcontroller (MCU) of certain protected ECUs. Here is what we know so far and what it means for tuners.
What is Korhex?
Korhex is not a standalone programmer : it is a FLEX extension, exclusively for FLEX users. It enables MCU access and Boot Glitch procedures (unlocking through electromagnetic fault injection during microcontroller startup) on supported ECUs.
According to the manufacturer and its distributors, the main benefit is avoiding component desoldering and manual Boot pin wiring : FLEX guides you step by step. You position a mask over the MCU contact point, run the procedure, then continue programming in FLEX as usual.
Capabilities and limitations
On supported applications, the advertised features include reading and writing internal flash memory and internal EEPROM, plus full ECU backups. Initial applications mentioned include DAF Delphi ETC3 UDS, new-generation SPC58N ECUs and Boot Glitch procedures for Mercedes Bosch MD1CP001 ECUs.
Keep the limitations in mind, as the distributors themselves point out: this is not a universal tool. Support depends on the ECU, microcontroller and protocol available in FLEX, and opening and preparing the ECU is still required in some cases. Magic Motorsport has announced additional applications through future FLEX updates.
Pricing and licences
The list price is €2,190 excluding VAT for the hardware alone. FLEX Full customers (Master or Slave) only need Korhex; other users must add the FLS0.20 Boot Glitch software licence or upgrade to Full. Always check pricing and availability with your distributor, as these may vary.
What does it mean for your workshop?
Wider access to protected ECUs potentially means more original and modified files to process in WinOLS. This is where file preparation comes in: removing NOREAD protection, rebuilding .ols/.olsx projects that are locked, or batch-importing your DAMOS files. Korhex provides access to the ECU; it does not replace file preparation.
Have a question about a file? Contact us with details of how the file behaves and what WinOLS displays, and we will recommend the right service.
